Adriana Gomez is a multi-media artist born and raised in Miami, Florida. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Skidmore College, with a double major in Religious Studies and Studio Art. Within her Studio Art major, she concentrated on Fiber Arts, Watercolor, and Printmaking.
Her art often draws inspiration from her home city of Miami, the tropical foliage, as well as the spiritual undertone that holds a lot of the city together. In her Senior Thesis Exhibit titled "Shrine to the Vulnerable Self", Adriana drew from her Religious Studies education to call attention to religious shrines that are created to deities of every culture. At the center of her shrine sits the viewer's most vulnerable self.
Adriana then went on to earn her Master of Social Work from Columbia University in New York City, eventually becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Throughout her work, art and creating were still central to her life's mission. She began to learn how to make jewelry, and dove into mixing watercolors with collage elements. When the pandemic hit, creating art became the central focus of her life again. It offered a time to come back to what centers her. She spent her days making postcards and handmade masks for her friends.
